This text gives an overview about my current research in timing analysis at the Vienna University of Technology. After a short introduction to the topic follows the description of an approach relying on CLP, the implicit path enumeration technique (IPET). This technique is also used in a tool developed at the institute of Computer Languages (TuBound). Current timing analysis tools suffer from a...

the increasing dependency of many businesses with information technology (it)and the high percentage of the it investment in all invested capital in businessenvironment ask for more attention to this important driver of business. thelimitation of capital budget forces the managers to look for more wise investment init. there are many cost-cutting techniques in the literature and each of them ha...

Pressure techniques were used to remove 83 blades from a preformed obsidian core weighing 820 grams, yielding 17.32 meters of acute cutting edge. The blades represented 91 percent of the original weight (2.1 centimeters of acute cutting edge per gram of original material), thus demonstrating the efficiency of the pressure-blade techniques for the production of acute cutting edges.

The use of cutting fluid in manufacturing industries has now become more problematic due to environmental pollution and health related problems of employees. Also the minimization of cutting fluid leads to the saving of lubricant cost and cleaning time of machine, tool and work-piece. The concept of minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) has come in to practice since a decade ago in order to overco...

The cutting stock problem it is of great interest in relation with several real world problems. Basically it means that there are some smaller pieces that have to be cut from a greater stock piece, in such a way, that the remaining part of the stock piece should be minimal. The classical solution methods of this problem generally need a great amount of calculation. In order to reduce the comput...

It has been suggested that computer interfaces could be made more usable if their designers utilized cinematography techniques, which have evolved to guide the viewer through a narrative despite frequent discontinuities in the presented scene (i.e., cuts between shots). Because of differences between the domains of film and interface design, it is not straightforward to understand how such tech...

The utilization of cutting planes is a key technique in Integer Linear Programming (ILP). However, cutting planes have seldom been applied in Pseudo-Boolean Optimization (PBO) algorithms derived from the Davis-Logemann-Loveland (DLL) procedure for Propositional Satisfiability (SAT). This paper proposes the utilization of cutting planes in a DLL-style PBO algorithm, which incorporates the most e...

Finite Element Method (FEM) based techniques are available to simulate metal cutting processes and offer several advantages including prediction of tool forces, distribution of stresses, and temperatures, estimation of tool wear, and residual stresses on machined surfaces, optimization of cutting tool geometry, and cutting conditions. However, work material flow stress and friction characterist...
